Design Conversations

Design conversations are for anyone who wants to take a thoughtful approach to course design. Whether you are starting from scratch, wanting to try something new in your course, or a seasoned teacher wanting to share what you know, we invite you to join us for a design conversation.

Who's in the conversation? Faculty, Instructional Designers, Assessment Specialists
What do we talk about? Creative design and delivery instructional methods consistent with best practices in learning and media design.

How does it work?

Make an appointment with Instructional Technologies and Distance Learning (ITDL) at least a week in advance. An ITDL designer will review your current online course and bring ideas to the meeting. If you are starting from scratch we will investigate if there are any best practices for teaching your discipline online. We will meet for about a 60 minute conversation. You will leave with ideas and options for enhancing and developing your course and ITDL will prepare a written report of the conversation that you can refer to when you have the time to work on course design.

Benefits:

  • Everyone grows in their knowledge by sharing ideas and experiences
  • ITDL learns what faculty and students report to be effective learning activity
  • Faculty learn about learning technology and instructional design
